Prop 8 Poll
After the recent events surrounding Prop 8, St. Louis' Mayor, Francis Slay has issued an online poll to gauge peoples' feelings on the matter. The poll is short, so please take just a moment of your time to fill it out. Responding to these types of polls really does give our legislators an opportunity to know what their constituents are thinking on a particular topic. The more support we show, the better.

SistahSpeak: Sunday May 16
Hello Family!
I am faithful that each of you is living purposeful as you walk this intentional journey. We sincerely apologize that this message comes to you at the eleventh hour. As every option was explored before a final decision could be made, this was the soonest we were (painfully) able to cancel the "SistahSpeak" event for Sunday, May 16, 2010. Have no fear, we're still here! We have a summer full of excellent talent poised to grace our stage and bless our mic. Don't forget to mark your calendars for our 8th Anniversary celebration in July! SistahSpeak This Sunday + Show Me Equality "Love Bus"
Hello Family! Hope all of you have started your week off with greatness as your sole intent!
On Friday, March 12, 2010, my now Wife and I were blessed and honored to be part of the third historic "Marriage Bus" to Iowa City, IA (we just commemorated our one month anniversary!). Please join with SistahSpeak as we celebrate the ongoing "Marriage Equality Bus Project" by pledging financial support to help defray the travel costs associated with completing this journey for many more same sex couples on Friday, May 7, 2010. We would like to ask that you bring a little extra on Sunday, April 18th when you come to enjoy the hypest open mic in the LOU. Donations will be accepted at the door throughout the night. Of course, we ask that you give what you can, but, please, do dig sightly deeper and perhaps sacrifice that extra latte or cappucino stash in the "special" zippered/buttoned pocket. Our community is asking your involvement in an extremely important endeavor- be the change you want to see; this little means a lot. Hello Family! Yeah, I know, its been a minute. In our absence from one another last month, I missed all of you. I hope you've already begun to see this Spring as the time of renewal and refreshing it is meant to be. Take this motivation from Nature and "clean your closets" - physically and spiritually. Take inventory of where and who you are in your Purpose. Remove from your life those things that you no longer use or need-make charitable donations where applicable, trash where necessary; end those relationships that no longer provide positive energy-set them, and yourself, free to begin anew. See yourself as "a new creature" in the Universe, reborn and intent on re-establishing your place on this journey. Celebrate living by really living it!

Our Springtime refreshing begins with the experience of "Blue"-singer, songwriter, and musician! If you've seen and heard her perform anywhere in the LOU, you know this is a show not to miss... If you have yet to know who she is, this is not a show to miss!

Good Morning Family!
I trust you are all blessed this morning. Just a reminder that today marks the first installment of our newest open mic event-"SistahSpeak Kids". This program is dedicated to showcasing the multi-talents of our children, ages 8-18yrs. We have with us, as a very special guest, You Tube sensation, Bryant Stewart! Bryant is a young spoken word artist from the Lou that is raising the bar high for this performance genre. Bring your kids to both enjoy and be inspired by his powerful skills. Doors will open @4:30, show at 5-6:30pm. Adults are $5 each($4 with an accompanying child), children are $2.50 each. The "adult" SistahSpeak will follow at its regular time-doors @7:30,show at 8-11pm; $5 cover. Our feature tonight is none other than YOU! The stage is yours for vocals, comedy, poetry, spoken word, or freestyle rap. That's right, YOU bring the skills, YOU bless the mic!

Happy New Year Family! I pray that all of you had a wonderfully blessed Holiday Season! 2010 will bring some changes to "SistahSpeak", but not in any way that will affect the care and thought we take in bringing you the best open mic event in the LOU. Firstly, we proudly present the start of a new tradition, "SistahSpeak Kids!"-an open mic segment dedicated to the talents of our children, ages 8-18 years. On Sunday, January 17 at Cicero's, doors will open @4:30pm, show @5-6:30pm; cover: adults-$5 (with children-$4), kids-$2.50. To ensure that we have enough time to give everyone an opportunity on the mic, please sign up in advance via email (sistahspeak@proudflower.com).
